uMove Christmas Volleyball Tournament - December 13

Your wish has been heard, and the uMove volleyball tournament is coming soon! The uMove Christmas Volleyball Tournament will be held on Friday, December 13, at the university's facilities.

Date and timing: Friday, December 13, starting at 10:00 AM

Location:
Liikunta-building (Keskussairaalantie 4, 40600 Jyväskylä).
Palloilusali (PS) & Voimistelusali (VS)

Right to participate:
All JYU & JAMK students and staff members.

Tournament Format: Preliminary matches will be played in two groups, followed by possible semifinals and placement matches. The tournament format will be finalized once the brackets are determined.

Number of Participants:
The maximum number of participants allowed in the tournament is 56 person.

Participation Fee: 7 € / person

Registration:

  • Registration opens on November 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM and closes on December 4, 2024, at 11:59 PM, or when the tournament is full. Registration is through Kongressi.
  • Each player must register for the tournament individually. Please indicate your estimated skill level on the form

  • Teams will be formed by the organizer after the registration period ends and will be available on the website and at the event location.
  • Registration is binding. Please cancel your registration before the registration period closes if you cannot attend.

Tournament Bracket and Schedule: The tournament bracket and team assignments will be published on the website by Thursday, December 12, at 12:00 PM at the latest.

The first matches will start tentatively at 10:00 AM.
General information and instructions will be provided before the teams' first matches.

Please arrive well in advance of your first match.

Tournament Rules: The rules will be published here by Thursday, December 12, at 12:00 PM. The rules will also be displayed in the sports hall lobbies. Any last-minute changes will be announced before the first matches.

Refereeing: Refereeing each match will be done on a team basis, with the team not currently playing (or a team member) serving as the referee during breaks. Remember to play fairly and, above all, with a cheerful attitude. The referee’s role is to officiate, and they have the authority to remove players from the game if necessary (e.g., if rules are violated or inappropriate behavior is observed).

More detailed instructions regarding refereeing will be provided in the rules and pre-event information.

Changing and Shower Facilities: Changing rooms, shower facilities, and saunas are available in the Liikunta-building, including U2 facilities during opening hours.

Café: The Syke café in Liikunta-building will be open from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. A self-service machine will be available throughout the tournament.

First Aid: First aid supplies for minor injuries can be found in the lobbies of the Liikunta-building. In acute situations, call emergency number 112.

Insurance: Participants are not insured by uMove.
uMove services and events are recreational sports services, and participants in the tournament are not insured by the organizer.
